Elham Multi Cushion Cover

The ‘Elham’ cushion cover from the Sarita Handa Suzani Retrospective collection recreates complex art and motifs that date back centuries. ‘Elham’ means ‘inspiration’ in Persian. The motifs embroidered on an ivory cotton base of this cushion cover are inspired by natural elements such as the sun and florals—all signs of abundance, growth and joy. These motifs were embroidered by the womenfolk of the nomad tribes on wall hangings, bedcovers and bridal dresses. Sarita Handa recreates these motifs with crewel embroidery on cotton, with a raised effect using doris and thick coloured yarn. The result is global art inspired from a rich tradition, for your living space.
