    🍐 Ingredient Notes

Here are what you will need to prepare this amazing dessert:

  • Pear – It’s essential that your pears are perfectly ripe. They must be soft to the touch but still possess a firm texture. Regarding the variety, I recommend using Bosc or Anjou pears.
  • Maple syrup – For sweetest and to add a subtle caramel flavor. If you don’t have maple syrup, you can replace it with agave syrup. Besides, honey can be used as a non-vegan option.
  • Coconut sugar – For extra sweetness and, again, to add a hint of caramel aroma.
  • Cornstarch – It helps thicken the sauce. Alternatively, you can use arrowroot or tapioca starch.
  • Ginger – I highly recommend using fresh ginger for optimal flavor. It brings a hint of spice and a citrusy aroma that pairs wonderfully with the pears.

      🥣 How to Make It

You will need just 10 minutes and about 30 minutes of baking to make these delicious baked pears.

    • Prepare the pears. Start by peeling the pears. Halve them and remove the core.
    • Arrange them in a baking dish. Place the pear halves cut side down in a large baking dish.
    • Make the syrup. Next, prepare the syrup by combining maple syrup, coconut sugar, water, cornstarch, and minced ginger in a small bowl.
    • Combine. Pour the syrup over the pears into the baking dish.
    • Bake. Bake the pears in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes or until tender. Then, flip them and place them under the broiler for a few minutes to caramelize them slightly.
    •

The result is beautifully golden brown pears that have soaked up the maple ginger syrup.

      🌰 Variations

    • Top with nuts: After baking, garnish with roasted nuts such as walnuts, pecans, hazelnuts, or almonds.
    • Add spices: For extra flavor, sprinkle the pears with cinnamon, cardamom, or apple spice.
    • Infuse with vanilla: Add a teaspoon of vanilla extract or replace the coconut sugar with vanilla sugar for a fresh and floral aroma.
    • 🍨 What to Serve It With

I love to serve the pears warm with a couple of tablespoons of ginger syrup, a dollop of vanilla ice cream or coconut cream, and some crushed peanuts on top. Delicious!

What I love about this recipe is that it can be served warm in the fall and winter or served cold in the summer. Oh, and if you have leftovers, just use them as a topping for oatmeal. It’s amazing!
