Grilled prosciutto wrapped asparagus is reliable go-to dish. It’s incredibly simple to make, requires just a handful of ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh asparagus
  • 4 ounces prosciutto, thinly sliced and halved lengthwise
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Optional: drizzle with reduced or aged balsamic vinegar

  • Preheat and Prepare the Oven or Grill Begin by preheating the grill over medium heat until the temperature reaches a steady 300ºF – 350ºF.If you prefer using the oven, preheat it to 400ºF.While waiting, take the time to prepare the asparagus by snapping off the tough ends.
  • Wrap Asparagus with Prosciutto Wrap each asparagus spear with a strip of prosciutto. If the asparagus spears are thin, about 1/4″ in diameter, group them into bunches of three and wrap with a single strip of prosciutto. Ensure all asparagus is securely wrapped for even cooking.
  • Brush with Olive Oil If grilling, lay the asparagus crosswise to the grill slats and reduce the heat to medium-low, maintaining a temperature between 300ºF – 350ºF to prevent flare-ups.Grill for 6-8 minutes, turning the asparagus 2-3 times for even cooking.Alternatively, place the asparagus on a parchment-lined baking sheet and roast in the oven for 8-12 minutes, adjusting the time based on the thickness of the spears.Cook until just tender.
  • Serve and Enjoy Serve the grilled or roasted asparagus immediately alongside your choice of main dish.This dish can also be enjoyed at room temperature, making it a great option for a picnic.
